Cut the plantains in half lengthwise.
Cut the halves in half through.
Mix the butter, sugar, and pepper; brush evenly over cut sides of plantain sections.
Place the bananas on grill coated with cooking spray; grill 7 minutes, or until the meat is tender and skins begin to pull away from the flesh.
Turn the bananas; grill 3 minutes.
Serve hot with lime wedges.
